Overview of the SCPNG Securities Commission of Papua New Guinea Legislative Framework
Our Mandate
The Securities Commission of Papua New Guinea (SCPNG) is the custodian and administrator of three principal legislations: the Securities Commission Act 2015, Capital Market Act 2015, and Central Depository Act 2015.
Under the Securities Commission Act 2015, the Commission is mandated to regulate Papua New Guinea’s capital market by establishing and maintaining the necessary regulatory infrastructure. This includes issuing capital market licences, approving Listing Rules and the Takeovers Code, and issuing directives to ensure a fair, orderly, and transparent market for all industry participants.
In addition, the Commission is responsible for promoting public awareness and investor education, particularly in response to the increasing presence of investment scams and Pyramid Schemes within the country.
